UV Water Treatment in Frisco, Installed Cleanly

A UV system sends your water past a sealed lamp that leaves bacteria, viruses and cysts unable to multiply, and nothing is added to what you drink. We size it to your home, mount it at the main line, and leave the space as tidy as we found it.

How UV Works, and Where It Stops

Inside a UV system is a stainless steel chamber with a lamp set in a clear quartz sleeve. Water moving through is exposed to ultraviolet light, which damages the genetic material of microorganisms so they can no longer multiply. The process takes seconds, draws roughly the power of a light bulb, and leaves the taste, smell and minerals of your water as they were.

UV has clear limits. It does not take out chlorine, lead, sediment or hardness, and no disinfectant stays behind in the pipes. For that reason most city-water homes we work in combine it with whole-home filtration or reverse osmosis instead of running it alone. Many Frisco families add it as a quiet second barrier, for boil-water notices or for a household member with a weakened immune system.

What Your UV Installation Includes

A system sized to your flow
UV units are rated by gallons per minute. We look at your fixtures, bathrooms and peak use so the chamber gives every gallon enough exposure, even with two showers and the dishwasher running.
A sediment prefilter
The quartz sleeve has to stay clear for the light to reach the water. A fine sediment cartridge ahead of the chamber keeps particles from shading it.
Bypass valves and a clean mount
We fit isolation and bypass valves so the lamp can be changed without shutting off your home. The unit is mounted level and secured, usually in the garage near the main line.
Connections made and pressure-checked
Installations are handled by subcontracted master-licensed plumbers. They make the connections and test them under pressure before anyone packs up.
Plumbing sanitized after startup
UV only treats water moving through it. Once the system is running, we flush and sanitize the lines downstream so the protection starts from clean pipes.

Signs a UV System Makes Sense for Your Home

  • You want a backup during line breaks

The utility disinfects water before it leaves the plant, yet main breaks and pressure drops still lead to boil-water notices. A UV chamber adds protection right where water enters your home.

  • Someone in the house is vulnerable

A newborn, an older parent, or a family member whose treatment lowers their immunity is the reason most people first ask us about UV.

  • Your carbon filter removes chlorine

Whole-home carbon filtration improves taste by taking the disinfectant out. Placing UV after it means the water still passes a disinfection step on its way to the tap.

  • You prefer nothing added to your water

UV leaves no chemicals and no byproducts behind. For owners who care about that, it is the simplest way to add microbial protection.

Installation Day, Step by Step

  1. 1

    Start with a phone call

Tell us who lives in your home, what equipment is already in place and what made you think about UV. We can also set up a water test so the prefilter and sizing reflect your actual water.

  2. 2

A written plan before work begins

You see where the unit will mount, which outlet it will use and how it fits alongside any filter or softener you already have. Nothing is cut until you agree.

  3. 3

    Protecting the space

Floor runners go down from the door to the work area, and drop cloths cover the garage floor. If the main line sits by a flower bed, we keep tools and soil off the plantings.

  4. 4

    Installation and startup

Water is off for a short window while the plumber makes the connections. We let everyone at home know before it goes off and when it comes back on, then sanitize the lines.

  5. 5

    A walkthrough and cleanup

We show you the lamp indicator, the bypass and the prefilter, explain the yearly lamp change, and take away packaging and offcuts.

What Goes Into a UV Quote

A UV setup is less involved than most water equipment, though a handful of details still change the price. We cover each with you on the phone, and the number you hear includes the work we describe.

How much water flows
More bathrooms and a bigger house call for a chamber and lamp with a higher rating.
Filtering ahead of the lamp
When sediment or scale could fog the sleeve, the plan may include a stronger prefilter or a water softener.
Space and reach
An open garage with the main line near an outlet keeps things simple. Cramped spots, longer runs or adding an outlet take more time.
Equipment already installed
When a filter or softener is already on the line, the components may need rearranging so UV comes last.

UV Treatment Questions

Something not covered here? (972) 895-9398

Will UV change how my water tastes or smells?

No. The light treats the water without adding or removing anything, so the taste stays as it is now. If chlorine taste bothers you, whole-home filtration is the fix.

When does the lamp get replaced?

Expect to swap the lamp about once a year, because its strength drops even while it keeps glowing. Clean the quartz sleeve during that change, and replace the sediment prefilter on its own timeline.

Is UV needed on city water?

Often not, and we will say that directly. The city treats water before it arrives. UV is an extra barrier for households that want one, not a cure for a problem most homes have.

What if the power goes out?

Without power the lamp is off, so water that flows during the outage is not treated. Most units turn back on by themselves when power returns, and the indicator tells you the lamp is running again.

Is the install work covered?

Yes. A 1-year workmanship warranty covers installation-related defects, so if a connection we made leaks, fixing it is on us.
